Reflections on Sake Brewery Tourism
The Kashima Sakagura Tourism Promotion Committee
The First Chairman, Naoki Iimori (Fukuchiyo Shuzo Brewery)
After “Nabeshima” won the top prize of Champion Sake at the 2011 International Wine Challenge, we decided to take advantage of this opportunity to take the next step and increase interest in Kashima and Saga’s sake. This is how Sakagura Tourism® was born.
Before the next champion sake was chosen, we quickly gave shape to our ideas by launching the Kashima Sakagura Tourism Promotion Committee.
But Kashima is not just about sake breweries. With rolling forests and mountain foothills situated along the nearby Ariake Sea, Kashima’s natural beauty yields a rich bounty of agricultural and marine products.
Working alongside local volunteers, farming and fishing industries, along with many other organizations, we are working to promote the unique appeals of Kashima and its sake breweries across Japan and beyond.
